The video shoot went well. We're now in post production, editing and putting together digital matte paintings. Here is an example of the storyboard to finish process. The last image is still a sketch of the final matte that Ram Bhat is in the midst of painting. The video will be released on September 1st. Check back here or the Fear Before the March of Flames website.

Pitchforkmedia.com. Check it out...and go to Macrock if you like music and happen to be anywhere near the middle of the east coast on the first and second of april.

Film Threat gives The Roost a great review from the South By Southwest film festival!
Also check out my work on the Mid Atlantic College Radio Conference (Macrock) website.

Busy times. We're working on cleaning and re-organizing the studio, which has caused minor delays in animation production, but things have been progressing well. A very talented guy named James Buckley has moved the production of his stop motion animation film into our studio, so we will have two projects going on at the same time. All of the projects from previous months have been wrapped up. Matt Tarle's music video for Steven Brodsky was a success. Keep your eyes on Magic Bullet Records website where it will air soon. I have FINALLY gotten around to adding more sketchbook material to the sketchbook page. A chunk of book 17 has been uploaded, and I'm working on getting book 19 to you soon. Selections from book 18 will follow after that. I streamlined the process a little bit, making it easier for me to upload the images...so hopefully that will mean you'll get to see them more often.

Last week marked the end of production of The Resurrection Apprentice. t's a short film that takes place in the late 1800's in a foggy London graveyard starring Larry Fessenden and Daniel Manche as a grave robber and his new employee. I met the director Glenn McQuaid from the Roost where he headed the post production special effects team and he brought me on board to production design this project. Fangoria did a nice little article on it (already!)...so go check that out for more info. Pictures will be coming soon.
December promises to be quite a busy month. I'm working on production design for a music video with director Matt Tarle, as well as storyboarding a horror film (more info to come later) and another secret project that will be posted at the end of the month...and the stop motion animation project is moving right along. Keep checking for updates.

I have a few things to report this time around. The painting that I did for The Roost poster is completed. I worked on set as the production designer and storyboarded the special effects scenes. The film premiered in New York on the 27th of October and recieved a very favorable review in Fangoria. Read the article here! It will be in film festivals this year. Keep your eye on the Official Website for updates.
Check out the newly posted painting on the Paintings page as well.
I am also doing some production design work for another short film scheduled to be shot November 18-20. I'll post images as soon as I have them.

10.4.04
A new 'sketch of the week' has been added (that's all for today). I'm in the midst of painting a movie poster for The Roost. I'll post that as soon as it's done. Set construction continues on the animation project. Sneak peeks may be on the horizon...

8.25.04
I have a bit of new news. The newest issue of Revelation magazine featured the above painting from The Self Series on the cover. The magazine features apocalyptic art and literature and is sold here. Go check it out and show your support (if you are so inclined)
A new sketchbook update is right over the horizon so keep your eyes open.

4.27.04
I just uploaded another storyboard to the 'storyboards' page. I did this one a while ago for a commercial pitch to GMC trucks. There is a new sketch of the week in the sketchbooks page as well.

3.22.04
I'm working on a new character puppet for our stop motion film. See work in progress pics on the 'Other Projects' page.

3.16.04
There are a few new interesting changes to the sketchbooks section, including a SKETCH OF THE WEEK. The storyboard section has also been updated with the boards that I did for The Roost.

3.8.04
NEW animation tests in the other projects section. Frequent updates are a good thing...

2.19.04
There are NEW PAINTINGS in the painting section, as well as the first of many behind the scenes pictures of our Stop Motion Animation project in process (in the other projects section). Joe Scarpulla and I have been designing and building for the last month and a half. We've been hard at work shooting digital test animations before we jump into the long filming process. If you're lucky, maybe we'll post some of our tests online...

11.14.03
I am now back in NY after working as a production designer on The Roost, (go here for the Fangoria article.) and work has resumed full force on the long planned but never finished Stop Motion Animation Project. Sets are being constructed as you read this, and filming is scheduled to begin on the first of december. Eric Robbins will be the Director of Photography and it will be filmed on Super16mm. Check back to the 'Other Projects' page soon for more info and images.

646.226.1019 is my new cell number. Update your databases.

I am going to be somewhere in the backwoods of Pennsylvania for the month of October working as a Production Designer for Glass Eye Pix on a wonderful little horror movie about vampire bats. I’ve been making foam rubber weapons this week…and I’ll post the photos when I get them. Webpage work will unfortunately come to a halt until the first of November when I get back…so enjoy what is here until then.

9.13.03
There are now storyboards in the Storyboards and Film Illustration section, and all of the sketchbook images have been re-sized to ease loading speed.

9.10.03
Alright...I finally got this all together. Welcome to the new site. After weeks of scanning and punching in code, I now have a big new sketchbook section and a format that will make updates much easier on me. (New server space means no more pop up ads either). Enjoy the site and feel free to email me with comments, hellos, or site bugs. Also new...I just moved..so if you have my old information, check the contact page for the new address and phone number. After a hiatus from painting for several months while working as a storyboard artist, I have begun painting again. This has been interrupted by my move and all of this website work, but you should see new stuff soon. All of the paintings that I've done over the past year will be added soon as well. Website work builds up when I neglect these things for too long. Enjoy the site and come back often. I do intend to keep adding things.

08.28.03
I am currently hard at work doing a major update to this site, which will include a section featuring my recent storyboard and film illustration work, as well as an extensive sketchbook section. I just scanned 150 pages from the past four books, with more to come.

03.31.03
The blue man group's album The Complex will be released on April 22nd. The painting above will be on the second page of the album booklet, and a drawing from the crowd series will cover two pages somewhere around page six or seven. Tell all your friends.

Thanks to all who came out to the parsons thesis show and gave good feedback and things. Little things are moving here and there. I've been painting more and more recently after slowing down for the past few months while working on a whole bunch of storyboards. As I mentioned before, there is going to be a show at NIAGRA (7th street and ave A,nyc) on March 6th (this thursday) and i'll have a few paintings in that. I actually have one piece up there right now and it'll be there for another couple weeks...but you should come on the sixth and hang out. I'll be there until the wee hours of the morning. And tell me if you heard about it from this page. I never know if anyone reads it or not...
also...if you happened to go to the senior show, you might have seen the painting video that I made (hands moving really fast...time lapse painting). They didn't give him credit, but frank perri wrote the music for it and did a very good job.
02.21.03
Update time. The Parsons Illustration department senior show is coming up this wednesday (feb 26th) from 6-8:00 at Parsons School of Design (2 west 13th street, ny,ny). I will be showing several new paintings that are not online yet, as well as a large amount of work on a previously unmentioned stop motion animation project (storyboards, set design, and still images). ALSO, the Three Bodied Head and some others will be having another show at Niagra (bar in the east village...scroll down, I think the address is somewhere) on March 6th. That's a thursday night. I will be showing 3 or 4 paintings. It's a one night thing, so don't try going on friday. I've also been doing some minor updates across the site. Nothing major yet. The big stuff is still to come.
02.05.03
It's been a very long time since this page has seen any new material. I have just moved to davidbellstudio.com, so keep your eye on that. A much needed update will soon follow.
04.15.02
A new drawing on the front page! unbelievable. I put a new image in the Crowds painting section as well. I'm going to be in a group show type thing this wednesday (July 17) at a bar in the east village called COZ (6th street between A&B) from 7 till something like four in the morning. I'll be showing two paintings from the Crowd series.
04.15.02
The show at Niagra went quite well. Good peope. New news..the fantastic people behind this generous free webhosting service decided that it was only fair to charge people to use uploading software....so it is now much more difficult to post things on the site. I'm looking into going somewhere else.
04.04.02
Nothing new scanned yet, but I am having a one night show at Niagra (112 Avenue A....downstairs) on Thursday, April 11,at 10 o'clock. One night. 4 paintings...two newly finished. Go to antagovision.com for all the scoop. Should be a lot of fun.
03.18.02
Working on some etchings and paintings on plywood. I'll post the etchings as soon as I pull a good print....maybe next week if you're lucky.
03.07.02
First update in quite a while. I actually didn't put any new pics up yet...but I've done a whole bunch more work and it'll be posted as soon as I can make some digital files of it. A few more abstractions and a new section of portraits will soon be added. I don't know how soon I'll get to the promised sketchbook section though. Time and laziness are always the issues.
Other news.....I'm going to be in a group show in the student gallery at Parsons School of Design beginning Thursday, March14 and lasting two or three weeks. The opening is at 6 on Thursday, so stop by if you're around.

12.13.01
New web page is up and running as of right now. So far the painting section works. The sketchbook is soon to follow. I am going to try my best to keep the sketchbook page updated on a regular basis...so come back often and you can see what i've been up to.
